Dr. Karen Fine, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Karen Fine graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. In 2001, she attended the first veterinary acupuncture course offered by Tufts.
Following the course, Dr. Fine achieved certification in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). She enjoys teaching and has been a teaching assistant and lab director for subsequent Tufts' acupuncture courses. Dr. Fine has mentored many veterinarians as they learn acupucnture. She has attended several courses in Chinese and western herbal medicine, and has also traveled to China for a veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine conference.
Dr. Fine's special interests include the holistic treatment of geriatric conditions and cancer. In 2004, her beloved 4-year-old dog, Rana, was diagnosed with an aggressive, incurable cancer of the mouth. With the help of a special diet, herbs and supplements, Rana lived an active, happy life for 18 months — six times longer then the 3-month prognosis given by her oncologist!
Dr. Fine lives with her husband Mike, son Nathan, retriever mixes Velvet and Remy, and cat Marula.
